Troy Drysdale Memorial Emergency Services Bursary
Troy Drysdale was a 21 year old student pursuing a career in the Emergency Service Technician program at the Alberta Fire Training School in Vermillion, AB when Troy's life suddenly ended as a result of a dirt bike accident. Funds for the memorial bursary are raised privately and administered through the Regional EMS Foundation. Troy loved to help people and family and friends foster his legacy. Each June, in his memory, the Troy Drysdale Golf Tourney is held to raise money for the bursaries and to assist other young people pursue their passion for a career in emergency services.
- The Troy Drysdale Memorial Emergency Services Bursary was established to accomplish two meaningful goals. First, to create a memorial legacy of Troy Drysdale that reflects his dreams and ambitions, and second, to create an opportunity for other young people from north-western Alberta to help realize their emergency services career goals through the benefit of financial aid. Every year, a number of bursaries are awarded, up to a maximum of $5,000 each. Matching funds from NADC are also available to qualified applicants.
- For more information on how you can help inspire emergency service workers in northwestern Alberta, or to receive a bursary application, please contact Joanne Cazakoff – Supervisor EMS Development at Alberta Health Services – North Edmonton Zone, by calling 780-513-5290 or by emailing joanne.cazakoff@pchr.ca. Community Spirit Program
Did you know that if you donate more to registered charities like the Regional EMS Foundation, you now have an opportunity to receive a higher tax credit on your income tax return? As part of the Alberta government’s new Community Spirit Program, an enhanced charitable tax credit will allow you to do just that.
Through this tax credit, when the provincial and federal charitable tax credits are combined, Albertans now receive a 50-cent tax credit for every dollar donated over $200. If you make a donation to a Canada Revenue Agency-registered charity, you will receive a non-refundable charitable tax credit when you complete your annual income tax return. When the provincial and federal charitable tax credits are combined, Albertans now receive a 50-cent non-refundable tax credit for every dollar donated over $200.
More support from you also means there is a greater opportunity for the Regional EMS Foundation to obtain a provincial grant to support our work in the community. The donation grant component of the Community Spirit Program allows our organization to apply for a grant based on the amount of money donated by individuals over a 12-month period. The more funds we raise, the better chance we have of receiving a grant to support our operations, as well as
the delivery of programs and services.
Your donation counts! Through your support you are helping our community become stronger and more vibrant.
